Manchester United VS Liverpool: Team News, Starting XI, Match Preview & Prediction – Where to Watch?

Liverpool will be making their trip to Old Trafford on Sunday as they will face Manchester United one last time this season in the return fixture of PL.

The Reds have been in excellent form in the Premier League as they are unbeaten in their last seven matches. The last time they faced a defeat was back in February when they lost 3-1 to Arsenal.

The latest 3-1 win against Sheffield United on Thursday only added to their confidence and ‘Never Say Die’ attitude.

The victory also added three points to their tally which solidified their standing at the first place of the PL points table. The Anfield giants are currently standing tall with 70 points after 30 games played.

The last eight games will be crucial for LFC to maintain the lead and secure the title. As things stand after gameweek 31, Arsenal stand second with 68 points after 30 games played.

In the third position are Manchester City who have 67 points after the same amount of games played as the Reds and the Gunners.

The match of gameweek 32 is an absolute cracker for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp & Co. will be travelling to Manchester to face their archnemesis Manchester United.

The recent FA Cup loss to the Red Devils are still fresh for the Anfield side and Sunday’s clash will be a proper chance for them to take revenge.

PL: Liverpool Team News vs Manchester United

The list of long-time absentees for LFC due to injuries will include Trent Alexander-Arnold, Stefan Bajcetic, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Ben Doak and Joel Matip.

While asked if there are any new injury concerns, Klopp stated,

“Nobody got injured already as far as I know today. So recovery started already and now we recover and go again.”

Star midfielder Wataru Endo missed the midweek clash against the Blades due to a knock he suffered. The German boss reassured about his situation soon after the match by saying,

“That’s my information [that he will be fit]. We rested him today. We had a feeling there could have been a chance for tonight but if we leave him out then there is a big chance for Sunday. I hope that didn’t change.”

Andy Robertson was out due to an injury until the last match where he made an appearance, coming off from the bench in the 60th minute. His beautifully timed cross helped Cody Gakpo score the third and final goal of the game.

The Scott will also be in contention to start the game ahead of Joe Gomez who deputized on Thursday.

Liverpool are expected to line up in a 4-3-3 formation with Caoimhin Kelleher in goal, Andy Robertson and Conor Bradley will be operating as fullbacks, and Ibrahima Konate alongside Virgil van Dijk will be the obvious choice for centre-backs.

In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister will be taking over as the defensive-midfielder. Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai will be operating as No. 8s in front of the Argentine.

As for the frontline, Liverpool will deploy Darwin Nunez as the striker while Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will be taking charge of the wing play.

Predicted Line Up

Projected Lineup (4-3-3): Kelleher, Robertson, Van Dijk, Konate, Bradley, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Nunez, Salah.

Manchester United vs Liverpool – Anfield Home Prediction

Here are some stats that will be supporting our prediction:

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their last seven PL matches with only one draw and six wins.
  • The Reds have won six of their last seven away PL matches with only one loss.
  • On the other hand, Manchester United have lost two of their last seven PL games.
  • In the last 11 PL games against the Red Devils, the Merseysiders have only lost once which was in the exact fixture last season.
  • The reverse fixture of this clash in this season ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Anfield side will be jumping into the game with the mindset of fulfilling their revenge. The hosts will once again try to secure a victory at their home against their bitter rivals.

Even though many will think the game will be a high-scoring game, ultimately the result will disappoint those optimists. Anfield Home predicts a tight contest with Liverpool winning in a tight 2-goal entertainer.

Manchester United 0- 2 Liverpool.
