The Reds academy product Tyler Morton has finally signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool FC at the age of 20.

The English youth international has spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers, where he had two assists from 28 games in all competitions.

Morton has started 20 Championship games for Blackburn in the current campaign, and he was a part of Liverpool’s FA Cup and EFL Cup-winning teams in the 2021-22 season.

Tyler Morton on his new contract

The young LFC explained his feelings to liverpoolfc.com after putting pen to paper on his new deal, Morton said:

“I’m absolutely buzzing. The little dream is coming true, so I couldn’t be happier.”

The Englishman also said

“I have known for a little while and it’s been ongoing, and I couldn’t wait to get it over the line because this is the place I want to be and this is the club I want to be at . I am absolutely buzzing and I can not wait for the future.”

Morton’s Liverpool days

Morton rose through the academy of Liverpool. He had struck an impressive six goals and eight assists in 36 games for the club’s under-21s.

The youth sensation progresses quickly over Jurgen Klopp’s guidance. The German genius is known for transforming young players into upcoming legends.

The Englishman has made nine appearances for the senior Reds team in total, including one start in the Premier League in a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in December 2021.

In the Champions League, meanwhile, Morton played the full 90 minutes in group-stage wins over Porto and AC Milan the latter of which came at San Siro last season.

Liverpool are in desperate need to sign new midfielders to restart their campaign. Can the signing of Tyler Morton solve Liverpool’s midfield issue?
