Jurgen Klopp updates forward pair’s fitness and responds about the title aspiration of Liverpool, ahead of the Leeds game at Anfield.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits there is “no chance” Diogo Jota or Roberto Firmino can feature against Leeds United on Wednesday. Moreover, there is serious doubt about the duo being match fit for Sunday’s Wembley final.

when reporters asked about the pair’s availability, Klopp responded:

No chance for tomorrow

Sunday we will see. It will be easier for me to say no now but they are pushing. Not on the pitch for training which is not a good sign. We’ll make a decision in the week.

Jota was taken off midway through the Champions League tie against Inter Milan due to an ankle injury. Meanwhile, Firmino has a muscle issue after the game at San Siro.

Neither Jota nor Firmino have featured in training sessions for the midweek clash against Leeds. Moreover, Klopp moaned that is “not a good sign” ahead of Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Chelsea.

Liverpool No. 23 Jota, currently is second behind Mo Salah in the race for Premier League’s Golden Boot. Meanwhile, Firmino has chipped in with crucial goals when called upon by Klopp this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s warning on title ambition of Liverpool

Klopp insists “nothing changed” with regards to Man City’s loss to Spurs on the weekend and the Reds push for the showpiece.

Liverpool, who were trailing by twelve points to Guardiola’s men at one stage, can close the gap to three points on Wednesday by winning their game in hand on City against Leeds at Anfield.

And Klopp admits his boys relentlessness must continue to reclaim the title from City.

Moreover, the German accepts the demands set by Man City for the title pursuit, the Reds can never afford to “get a bit soft” in the title race.

Liverpool boss Klopp said:

Obviously both teams were able to do some special stuff, I have to say. With all respect, what Man City is doing is incredible and we are pushing each other as well.

It is not only us because there is also Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Tottenham, whoever is there. I don’t forget all the other teams.

But I think we can say we are pushing each other. It keeps you going. There is no chance to get a bit soft or whatever because the other one will be there immediately to catch you.

Liverpool are the League’s in-form side at the moment having secured 16 points from possible 18 in the League, so far in 2022. And if the Reds win against Leeds, it will pour more threat on Man City’s title pursuit.
