Erling Haaland and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp met in the tunnel before the Community Shield clash.

As seen on LFCTV’s Inside series, Haaland greeted Klopp before the game with a huge smile and a handshake. “Welcome!” said the Liverpool manager as he clasped the Norwegian’s hand.

Haaland wasn’t the only person happy after seeing Liverpool’s boss, Ilkay Gundogan was seen chatting happily with his old coach, while Kevin de Bruyne gives Klopp a friendly pat on the chest.

Happy to see the mutual respect that exists between the players and coaching staff of City and Liverpool.

Klopp and Haaland

This Wasn’t the first time the Norwegian is meeting Jurgen Klopp up close. They met each other in the Champions League group stage fixture at Anfield when the Striker was playing for RB Salzburg in 2019. Where Liverpool made a brilliant comeback from 3 – 0 down to win 4 – 3 at home.

Meanwhile, Liverpool use to be considered as a possible destination for Haaland. However, the Reds never met with the players’ representatives to discuss a deal. And the 22-year-old never seriously considered a transaction.

Moreover, initially, the boss said that there is absolutely no chance that Liverpool will try to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

“The numbers involved are just crazy – we’ll be having nothing to do with it. No chance! To be honest, I don’t want anything to do with it. It’s not fun.”

With the 22-year-old striker signing for Manchester City, Liverpool will get to face him on a regular basis and try to stop him from scoring. They did a wonderful job in keeping the striker quiet in their first encounter and a goalless debut for him at his new club.

Liverpool fans won’t be disappointed for not signing Haaland or that Manchester City bought him. They have a new young superstar who fits perfectly in the Reds’ playing style. And that is their Record signing Darwin Nunez.

It will always be interesting to watch Liverpool and Manchester City rivalry throughout the season and these two new signings have made things more interesting.
