Liverpool to offer a lucrative contract to Diogo Jota

Liverpool to reward forward Diogo Jota with a new lucrative contract for his stunning form, in order to extend his stay at Anfield.

The Portugal star signed for Liverpool from Wolves for a £45million deal in 2020. Since then, the forward has lived up to expectation, with 34 goals in 85 games for Liverpool in the Premier League.

Jota still has three years to run on the contract he signed upon joining the Reds in 2020 from Wolves. The club hierarchy feels he perfectly fits into manager Jurgen Klopp’s long-term plan. Besides, wants to tie him down for a longer stay at the club.

Liverpool have so far already committed a number of key players and staff to new contracts. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was first to sign a new deal extending until the summer of 2026.

The German was followed by Mohamed Salah, whose previous deal was set to expire next summer. Moreover, defender Joe Gomez was the next, who signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2027.

Furthermore, many reports suggest forward Jota is next, as The Daily Telegraph claims that Liverpool wants to hand him a bumper new deal to reward his progress.

Jota can expect a ‘significant’ uplift in his salary for his eye-catching displays on the pitch. His performances so far potentially raise the prospect of an improvement on his current £90,000 per week wages.

Currently, the 25-year-old is recovering from his hamstring injury and is due back in training within a fortnight.

Liverpool’s recruitment has been top-notch for some time now. However, back in 2020, eyebrows were raised and questions were asked when Liverpool paid £45million to Wolves for the Portugal international.

Jota’s fine development into Jurgen Klopp’s side has led to his becoming one of the main frontmen in the Reds’ attack. Initially arriving as a high-quality back for Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mo Salah.

Jota enjoyed an electric start to his Liverpool career despite being disrupted by injuries on many occasions. Moreover, the forward brings versatility, work rate, and determination into his overall game ultimately benefiting the team.

Last season, the Portugal international scored 21 goals and made eight assists to help Liverpool win the Domestic Cup double, as well as reach the Champions League final.

This season, the Liverpool No.20 will look to finish with an even higher tally of goals.
