Updates on Injuries of 9 Liverpool FC players

There are nine injury concerns across the entire Liverpool FC squad as the new season approaches. But what has been revealed about their expected return dates?

The Reds will play in their first competitive game against Fulham on Saturday, ten weeks after the end of the previous campaign.

There will be a few players missing from Craven Cottage due to injuries experienced during the preseason. But the return of the goalkeeper is likely to be a welcome one.

But how are things going right now in terms of illnesses and injuries?

Liverpool FC injury Timeline

The Brazilian took part in just one game in the preseason due to an abdominal injury he sustained while travelling in Asia. But he has gradually increased his training over the past week.

The Community Shield match versus Man City was meant to be his comeback. But the date was changed to the first game.

Jurgen Klopp said last week:

“He will absolutely be available for Fulham.”

And that’s all the words we were dying to hear.

Diogo Jota

Jota already had a hamstring problem while playing for Portugal in the summer. And he was another player to succumb to injury while on the Asia trip.

Klopp predicts that his recuperation will “take a while, sadly,” before the Community Shield match. But a report on Tuesday suggests that he should be back “within two weeks.”

He probably won’t play until September because he still needs to make up on his preseason fitness.

Naby Keita

Keita was briefly seen in Leicester. But he didn’t play the friendly against Strasbourg the next day, so Fulham will have to wait for him.

On Sunday, Klopp gave a reason for Naby’s absence: “Naby is ill.”

The midfield trio for Saturday appears to be Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago. This is due to Keita’s illness and the fact that he only came as a substitute in the Community Shield.

Curtis Jones

Jones’ injury on Sunday was shocking. And it was even more perplexing given that he had left Anfield without assistance before being subsequently seen walking with crutches and a moon boot.

It suggests a few weeks of rest; luckily, the scans revealed a good prognosis.

Klopp said:

“Curtis, we have to see. [There] was no impact or whatever, so that always makes it a bit, ‘My god, what could it be?

We had no time; he felt it today, and he wanted to play desperately, but then the medical department said no and that we needed to make further tests. We will do that [Monday], and then we will know more.”

Ibrahima Konate

The repercussions of an earlier match on the centre-back’s knee take him off the field against Strasbourg in the second half.

After the initial impression, Klopp was as optimistic as he could.

Kostas Tsimikas

Before getting hurt in Austria and missing the final three friendlies, Tsimikas did play in three preseason games.

At the time, Klopp stated, “He suffered a knock yesterday, so he can’t play [against Salzburg],” with the injury being described as a painful knee.

Liverpool won’t want to rush it. But the hope is that it won’t take too long for him to recover.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

As if his bad luck wasn’t terrible enough already, Oxlade-Chamberlain took a “severe” hamstring injury blow in Asia. This is making it doubtful that he will play again before October.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Kelleher sat out every preseason game for Liverpool due to a groin injury.

After the problem was not properly raised in the summer, there has been a feeling of irritation among the medical personnel within the Republic of Ireland setup.

He might return mid-august.

Calvin Ramsay

The young Scot’s summer move has not gone well. He was unable to travel to Asia because of an injury that was found on his first day at the club.

Although he did travel to Austria with the club, Liverpool is willing to exercise patience given his injury. So, it is unclear when he will be able to resume playing.

It is comparable to Kaide Gordon’s predicament, who has fought his injuries ever since breaking through with the first squad last season.
