According to Sky Germany, Roberto Firmino is on the verge of signing a contract extension at the Merseyside club.

Roger Wittmann, Bobby’s agent said to Sky Germany

“It’s a long relationship between Roberto and Liverpool”

“But Roberto also has to have a say in order to find an agreement with Liverpool. We are on the right track. We have really good talks with Liverpool. It’s an outstanding club.”

The 31-year-old, who is currently nursing a calf injury, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move away from Anfield with the likes of Atletico Madrid reported to be interested.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian has explained that staying with Merseyside is his priority and that the Anfield hierarchy has responded by offering him a contract extension.

The 31-year-old said

“It’s fantastic playing high-level football here with great players. I’m happy here and I intend to stay here and help Liverpool”.

The Reds boss always admired the Brazilian striker. Bobby has always been a fan favorite since he joined the English giants.

The Brazilian joined the Merseyside club in the 2015-16 season. The Reds paid the Bundesliga striker £29M to bring the 31-year-old to the Premier League on a five-year contract. They later awarded the forward a £180k-a-week extension.

Importance of LFC’s number 9

This season Bobby played 13 matches in the Premier League where he scored 7 goals and gave 3 assists. He has an expected XG of 4.2.

Liverpool number 9 will also be helpful in guiding and assisting Merseyside’s new signing Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan joined the Red’s side with a record transfer deal. But since his impressive performance in community shield the LFC’s number 27 is struggling to perform.

Bobby has vast experience in dealing with such difficulties and he could help the Uruguayan to reach his potential.

Is Firmino’s extension a good idea for the Reds?
