Liverpool are among a few top clubs in race to sign the Argentine World Cup winner, Alexis Mac Allister, who is likely to leave Brighton this summer.

According to Football Insider, Alexis Mac Allister will be running out of his contract in 2025 but reports suggest he is most likely to leave the Seagulls this summer.

Brighton are expected to demand £70 million for the World Cup winner. It is reported that Liverpool, Man City, and Juventus are currently leading the race to sign the 24-year-old.

Mac Allister has established himself as one of the most promising midfielders in the Premier League, and he has been exceptional with his country as well. The Santa Rosa-born player recently helped Argentina win the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

His performances at the WC and also for Brighton have attracted interest from many elite clubs. Top-half clubs in PL like Chelsea, Man Utd, and Spurs are also after the signature of the midfielder.

However, the Argentine signed a recent contract with the Seagulls in October, keeping him till June 2025. But Brighton would struggle to keep Mac Allister as it might be difficult to reject a decent offer being put on the table by any of these interested clubs.

Mac Allister to Liverpool?

Mac Allister joined Brighton in January 2019 when Brighton paid South American side Argentinos £7 million for him. He was sent back on loan to Argentinos and Boca Juniors and only got a chance in the PL in the second half of the 2019-20 campaign.

Even though the midfielder took some time to settle, he has started to flourish since the last season. The Argentine has adapted to the English game and has seemed to have taken his game to the next level.

Since then, he had been included in the World Cup squad for Qatar and has been a key player in Argentina’s success. The 24-year-old played in 6 of the 7 games at Qatar and has earned plenty of plaudits along the way.

After winning the World Cup, Mac Allister sees his future as being elsewhere, and he knows there is strong interest in him.

His father, Carlos, has confirmed he is in contact with numerous teams. However, the main question is whether Brighton will agree to sell Mac Allister.

Hence, it is yet to be seen where the midfielder would end up playing the next season.
