The Scousers are seeking additions as they attempt to reorganize the team. In this summer’s transfer window, Liverpool plans to make a move for Brighton duo Alexis Max Allister and Moises Caicedo.
Calciomercato, an Italian publication, claims that the Reds are seriously considering adding both players to their midfield for the upcoming season.
Although Mac Allister seems to be the main target, Brighton are rumored to demand a minimum of £66 million. This would rule out Juventus, another rumored suitor, as the Argentine is supposedly set to sign with a major Premier League club.
Liverpool to clash with Man City in a transfer race?
Mac Allister is reportedly being monitored by Manchester City as well. The 24-year-old is said to have “bewitched” Pep Guardiola, who now considers him a priority target.
Caicedo is allegedly still a target for Liverpool. The Reds allegedly tried to recruit the Ecuadorian in January, and it is rumored that they will make another attempt in the summer.
Both of these players appear to be plausible targets for Liverpool in the midfield. We can, however, predict with a high degree of accuracy that they won’t take both of them.
It isn’t strictly due to the Reds’ lack of effort, though. Together, Mac Allister and Caicedo have the ability to solve Liverpool’s midfield problems. However, it will be extremely expensive to transport the duo out of Brighton.
Brighton are unwilling to sell the duo
Although £66 million for Mac Allister is a lot, the Seagulls apparently want much more to sell Caicedo. Liverpool would certainly face difficult, protracted, and expensive discussions because they are known for driving the harshest bargains.
Thus, it would probably be preferable to try to recruit only one of their South American talents, unless Brighton are eager to arrange a package deal.
Caicedo has been followed for a very long time, is younger, and could have greater potential. He’s “amazing,” as former teammate Adam Webster once put it. He would seem to fit in well.
Yet something about Mac Allister makes you believe that he would be the ideal choice for Liverpool.
