On Sunday, there will be a major Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool. Before the weekend’s games, the visitors are eight points behind the top four spots while Spurs are five points behind the league’s top team, Arsenal.

Tottenham vs Liverpool: Match Preview

Spurs should be quite confident going into their match against Liverpool on Sunday after securing a key 2-1 victory away to Marseille on Tuesday to claim first place in Group D of the Champions League.

On the verge of being eliminated from Europe’s premier competition, Antonio Conte’s team once again fell behind to a powerful header from Chancel Mbemba. However, Clement Lenglet’s equalizer moved them back into second place, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s rasping injury-time winner secured first place.
Tottenham had come from behind to win two games in a row after trailing Bournemouth 2-0 the weekend before and were on the verge of losing three straight Premier League games.

Even though Liverpool has had a terrible time maintaining consistency this year, their 2-0 victory against Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday was more proof that they can still compete with any side on their best day.

Even though Jurgen Klopp’s club is the only one to have defeated Manchester City, Newcastle, and the Italian league leaders thus far this year, they have just suffered back-to-back Premier League losses to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

In the Premier League, their 2-1 loss to the Lilywhites at home last weekend marked the first time they had done so since April 2017. Virgil van Dijk’s illustrious home-field winning streak also came to an end.

As for the records go, Tottenham haven’t had a win against the Reds in their last nine Premier League games. In their last 20 clashes, the Scousers only failed to score in one game.

Team News

Ibrahima Konate’s return to Liverpool’s defence against Napoli was encouraging, and Joe Gomez is unlikely to start alongside van Dijk against Spurs in favor of the France defender.

Nunez, who came off the bench to score a goal against Luciano Spalletti’s team, should take the place of Curtis Jones on the left flank, and club captain Jordan Henderson, who received no rest at all, should freshen up the lineup in place of Kostas Tsimikas and James Milner, who is out of the running after sustaining a concussion on Tuesday.

Long-term injuries have kept Joel Matip, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Arthur, Naby Keita, and other players out of action.

What do we predict at Anfield Home

Spurs 1-2 Liverpool

This season, Liverpool has a history of competing well against stronger opposition, and we anticipate that trend to hold true on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Son‘s injury is a significant setback to Spurs’ chances of winning this game. As a result, Conte’s team lacks a lethal out ball in transition, which gives the Reds greater confidence to push higher and try to suffocate their opponents via possession.
