Liverpool FC are back for the early training for the 2022-23 season. The team had a good training session and we noticed 3 things from it. One of the surprises was a Reds defender making an early comeback.
Liverpool began their pre-season training
Liverpool began preparing yesterday for the 2022–23 campaign.
As the preseason began, Jurgen Klopp’s team returned to their Kirkby training facility.
Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, among other Reds players, won’t be available until later this week. After the international break, they have additional time off.
However, from the session, we noticed the following three things.
Start for the new boys
The official introduction of Fabio Carvalho happened over the weekend.
Before photographs and interviews were taken, the offensive midfielder’s transfer to Liverpool in May was revealed. A sum of up to £7.7 million had been agreed upon with Fulham.
Carvalho will now believe he has successfully begun his career with the Reds.
On what would have been a thrilling day for him, the teenager met up with his new teammates.
Calvin Ramsay, who moved from Aberdeen for up to £6.5 million, can be said to have done the same.
The two are probably eager to play on the grass with Liverpool and display their skills at this point.
Darwin Nunez wasn’t present at Kirkby, though. The striker cost a club record to acquire from Benfica.
He took more time off. This is because he was representing Uruguay during the international break.
Chambers’ surprise appearance
The expectation was that Kaide Gordon would be part of Klopp’s team.
Despite only being 17 years old, the winger is anticipated to play solely in cup games and remain a peripheral player this season.
However, it came as a bit of a shock when Luke Chambers reported for duty.
Not quite a week has passed since Chambers led England to victory at the under-19 European Championships.
The defender came off the bench against Israel. They beat them 3-1 on Friday in the championship.
But instead of taking a break, which would have been richly deserved, Chambers has demonstrated his degree of dedication by contacting Kirkby.
In fact, Pep Lijnders expressed excitement at seeing Chambers train with the first squad this summer.
The 18-year-old is now obviously eager to impress. And this will be noted.
Davies returns
Ben Davies is possibly one player who has fallen from fans’ memories.
The centre-back was brought on board in January 2020 during a defensive crisis. Although he is still yet to play for Liverpool.
Davies was on loan at Sheffield United during the previous season. Even though he could only make 22 appearances, he usually made an impression when he did.
As he waits to decide what to do next, Davies has returned to Merseyside.
Actually, it’s tough to imagine Davies upending Klopp’s schemes.
As options for the centre-half position, Liverpool has Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibou Konate, and Joe Gomez. Rhys Williams and Sepp van den Berg, two junior musicians, are listed below the senior quartet.
Nat Phillips should not be overlooked either. He returned after aiding Bournemouth’s promotion to the Premier League but is anticipated to leave once more.
However, Davies will be eager to practice against players like Nunez, Mo Salah, and Luis Diaz.
