Salah is on the verge of winning his third consecutive footballer of the year award. The voting process is still on but the Egyptian is in the driving seat.

Mohamed Salah is the leading contender to win this award having previously been voted as Liverpool’s Fan Footballer of the year twice. The other three contenders are Alisson Becker, Thiago Alcantara, and Luis Diaz.

Footballer of the year race

Liverpool are currently sitting in sixth place in the table behind their rivals Manchester United. After a disappointing start to the campaign, the former English Champions want to reclaim their use-to spot at the top of the table. To retain that position Klopp is looking forward to his experienced team players delivering on big stages.

Alisson has been rock solid this season. He made some crucial saves to put Liverpool back in the top-four race. As a goalkeeper, the Brazillian’s top performance between the post has always gone unnoticed. Despite being a goalkeeper he has still managed to register his name under the assist list. Thus, the 30-year-old is one of the contenders to beat the Egyptian for the award.

Diaz’s electric form continues from his injection in the squad in January. The ex-Porto star has scored 3 goals and assisted 2 in his last 8 appearances. After his introduction as a substitute against Cardiff City in FA Cup, he has become a key member of the squad.

Thiago Alcantara is among the fan favorites. The Spaniard is the main engine of the Red’s midfield. He has been a crucial player throughout the year for the Merseyside club. His vision and attacking dribbles make him dangerous for any opposition.

Can Mo Salah win the award for the 3rd time?

The English giant’s number 11 is the main man for the Merseyside’s attacking contribution. His sprint on the wings while driving the ball inside the 16-yard box makes him one of the deadliest strikers in the modern footballing World.

The magician has scored 6 goals and given 3 assists out of 14 matches played this season. He is one of the favorites to win the award for the third time in a row.
