The Senegal national team were up against Togo in a World Cup qualifier and the captain of The Lions of Teranga Sadio Mane was unable to complete the match. Senegal boss Aliou Cisse stated that replacing Sadio Mane was purely due to his injury issue. Sadio Mane was brought off in the first half against Togo for precautionary reasons as he sustained a minor injury.

The Liverpool forward was substituted in the 28th minute of the tie as he collided with a Togo defender. However, after the match, the Senegal manager said that the injury suffered by Mane was nothing much to worry about.

After the match, the Senegal manager said:

Yes, Sadio Mane is an important player to us. His exit destabilized us. But we took him off for a precautionary cause and there is nothing serious.

Mane out after injury blow

Reports claim the issue to be a knock. Mane will be assessed and his participation against DR Congo still remains to be doubtful. This injury is not serious but will surely spring up worries in the Liverpool camp. As there have been talks about having a backup for Sadio Mane.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane has not been to the best of his form at the club level this season, scoring just eight goals in 15 appearances. This also includes six goals in 11 Premier League outings. Senegal will continue the World Cup qualification journey against Congo this Sunday.

On the other hand, Liverpool plays Arsenal at home in their next Premier League fixture on 20th November.

Jurgen Klopp now has to think of playing Takumi Minamino in his place till the Senegalese star is completely fit again to play. While Liverpool are already dealing with some prior injuries and now this gets added on to it.

Meanwhile, Senegal have already made it to the final qualifying round for the World Cup next year. The double legged play-off is set to commence in the month of March next year.

If Sadio Mane does not return in time for the Arsenal clash, The Reds will have to manage without his services. This seems tricky for Liverpool but we can expect other players to grab this opportunity to showcase their potential.
