Liverpool are reported favourites to sign Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, who is strongly tipped to leave the Italian side this summer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Reds lead the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for the 26-year-old playmaker, with Newcastle United also interested in signing Barella. Yet it is Liverpool who are clearly out in front to land the midfielder.
The Italian is valued at £77m and is one of the most-talked-about players in his position, currently. However, it might be difficult for Inter to keep him at the club amidst interest from big European clubs.
The player also might leave San Siro and move to the PL where Liverpool are one of the most serious candidates.
Barella is a player who is praised by the Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard and plays a similar position as him. Furthermore, the Anfield legend is also said to be a ‘huge fan’ of the 26-year-old.
Last season, the midfielder helped Nerazurri reach the UCL finals where they lost to a brilliant Man City side. However, they did win silverware in the form of Copa Italia after only coming 3rd in the league.
Nicolo Barella could be the answer to the Liverpool midfield problems
There’s no denying how good a midfielder Barella is. The Italian international is a world-class operator and a player who could thrive at Liverpool.
And that’s why the Merseyside giants have to do all they can to secure the 26-year-old’s signature. It could be one of the best deals any club does this summer.
After having signed Mac Allister and still looking for more midfielders in the market, the Reds have a long-list of options. The former Genoa man could bring a lot of technical and creative quality to the Reds’ engine room.
Indeed, a midfielder of Barella’s calibre would be a huge boost to Liverpool’s squad. And the Reds are now the reported favourites for the Italian’s signature.
Klopp and his team have to do all they can to bring the midfielder to Anfield in the coming days.
