Liverpool are highly interested in signing Darwin Nunez. The player’s club wants £85 million and Man Utd also wants to sign the player. Here’s how Liverpool could line up next season if the player completes the move to Anfield.

Reds’ Transfer Window

Liverpool could welcome Nunez into the first team next season

Jurgen Klopp will be hard at work moulding his Liverpool team. He believes this team will deliver Anfield even more glory next season.

The Reds won two big trophies last season. But they will be disappointed to have missed out on the Premier League crown and the Champions League. Despite this, Liverpool won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, adding to their trophy cabinet.

Even though the season just ended a few weeks ago, speculation is already rife about who Klopp will bring in. Liverpool have already completed one deal before the market has officially opened.

Fabio Carvalho has completed his transfer to Liverpool from Fulham. His transfer is completed for a fee of £5 million-plus add-ons. He was the Reds’ first summer addition, and he’s not likely to be the last.

Darwin Nunez has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield. Liverpool wants to bring the 22-year-old to Merseyside. And the player also feels the same way.

Nunez wants to join Liverpool. But the Reds are hesitant to do business at Benfica’s asking price of €100 million (£85.5 million). And the Reds will not get into a bidding battle, despite Manchester United’s interest. According to sources close to Benfica, the Portuguese club is open to a structured deal in which Liverpool pays an initial €80 million (£68.4 million) set fee plus €20 million (£17.1 million) in add-ons.

However, any transfer is contingent on the Reds generating finances by selling some of their other forwards. Sadio Mane is most likely going to join Bayern Munich for around £42.75 million. While Takumi Minamino will most probably leave for around £17 million, with a number of clubs keen.

Potential Liverpool XI next season

Liverpool’s starting line-up for the upcoming season might be significantly different after a hectic summer window. However, there isn’t likely to be much of a difference in defense.

Alisson Becker is the clear favourite, with Caoimhin Kelleher serving as his backup. The only way this could alter is if the latter decides to depart for more game time, which is a big ‘if’ right now.

The fullbacks are Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson, with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defense. With Joel Matip and Joe Gomez already having experience at Anfield, the issue is who will be his partner.

Ibrahima Konate, on the other hand, was impressed in his first season after joining from RB Leipzig. Next season, he could be Van Dijk’s first pick for a partner.

Into midfield, it may be a familiar trio unless a new addition comes through the door. The first-choice midfield trio of Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, and Jordan Henderson is unlikely to change.

New addition Carvalho, as well as Naby Keita, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, and James Milner, will be options. Especially if Klopp decides to change formation. Should the manager decide to change tactics, the new recruit can play as a No. 10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Then we proceed to the front, where we only have one confirmed starting – Mohamed Salah. The other two positions will be interesting to watch.
