Kyle Walker comments on Liverpool

In a discussion at BT sport’s Premiere League Storybook, Kyle Walker shows his respect towards Liverpool.

The English fullback believes this rivalry between the Sky Blues & the Reds is one of the greatest in recent Premier League history. Both Man City and the Merseyside giants have pushed each other to be the best teams in the world.

Walker admires Liverpool

This is a pure footballing rivalry built on two great footballing sides. DO you think it’s the best the Premier League has seen the way you’re pushing each other every week?

The Man City defender was asked.

I think it is in terms of the standard of football. That’s no disrespect to the Arsenal team that was fantastic or Manchester united team that was fantastic and won numerous leagues,

The Englishman further added saying:

I think the football and the standard of football and the standard of players coming to the league now is fantastic. It’s fantastic for the neutrals, do I wish we ran away with it every year? Of course I do, but I think it’s fantastic for the English Premier League.

The fight is on

There is no denial about the quality that these English giants have on their squad. Both the Sky Blue and the Reds had made the Premier League title a two-horse race for the past 5 years (this season being the exception). In both 2018-19 and 2021-22, the Merseyside giants lost to the Manchester side by just one point.

Another reason for this fierce rivalry is two World-class tactical geniuses, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola. Their rivalry began back in the time when they were managing two German giants, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich. The two mastermind managers have met each other 24 times. In these 24 meetings, there have been six draws, The German has won ten games while the Spaniard has got better off Klopp eight times.

Thus, the rivalry continues, as the two giants of English football collide again in the EFL Cup round of 16 on 22nd December.
