New Covid restrictions have been set for the spectators visiting the stadiums in England. After a season with empty seats, the Premier league allowed spectators to fill the vacant seats in July 2021. It’s been more than five months since the covid restrictions have been lifted. It looks like a new set of Covid rules are back in England.

Two Premier League fixtures, Tottenham vs Brighton and Brentford vs Manchester United were postponed due to Covid cases. Premier League clubs have taken strict steps and agreed to these new restrictions set by Premier League and the England government.

Everyone has to take a lateral flow test outside, before entering the training ground every single time. Weekly-twice PCR testing is also introduced. A meeting was held on Tuesday with the shareholders and the decision of increased testing was taken with other emergency measures.

The new Covid restrictions at Anfield and other stadiums in England

The English Government’s Covid Plan B measures, states that vaccination or a negative covid test certificate is necessary to attend sporting events of more than 10,000 people in England from today. Thus, this applies to events like Premier League matches as well.

These new restrictions are forced into immediate action after an emergency meeting on Tuesday. The highly transmissible Omicron variant is becoming a dominant strain of coronavirus in the UK. On Monday Premier league announced that there has been 42 Covid positive cases among the players and staff last week. Liverpool have taken strict measures to guarantee the safety of players, staff, and fans.

  • Entry will be denied if unable to show the legally required documentation
  • Face coverings must be worn when moving around the stadium
  • Complete LFC health declaration form if received by email
  • Under 18s are exempt from checks

The Government and the Premier league are Implying strict measures to avoid the spread of the new covid variant, especially in this festive season. Clubs are ready to use these strict measures to avoid postponing the games as they don’t wanna have a hectic matchday schedule at the end of the season.
