Roberto Firmino suffered a hamstring knock in the 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid that forced him out. Since then he has missed eight matches for the Reds. The 30-year-old recovered soon and everyone in camp is delighted to see him back again.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones was struck with a freaky eye injury that turned out to be fatal. However, he is close to a return for training with the first team again. He will have to take more care to recover soon completely. While Jurgen Klopp is very happy with two of Liverpool’s first-team players recovering soon.

Klopp’s Injury update on Firmino and Jones

Jurgen Klopp spoke ahead of the busy festive season as he stressed on players coming back:

Bobby trained fully normal in training yesterday and may start. Curtis has had a partial first season, so he is not far away. It is at the right time we got these to quality players back bearing the busy schedule.

Meanwhile, the other big concern is the Covid situation sparking again in England. Several matches have been postponed due to this unfortunate happening. Manchester United’s match against Brentford was called off lately due to the Covid outbreak.

There are plenty of talks on vaccinations being made mandatory for footballers. However, Klopp said everyone in the Liverpool camp gets tested regularly. They get tested on arrival and departure and are allowed following a negative result. Thus, there are certain new Covid restrictions that are going to be implied ahead of the Newcastle clash.
