In the latest developments in the world of Liverpool’s transfer news, Saudi side Al-Ittihad are making a final attempt to secure the services of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as the Saudi Pro League transfer window draws to a close on Thursday, September 7 (Today).
Liverpool recently turned down a substantial bid of up to £150 million for Salah, which would have set a new Premier League record sale, surpassing the previous record of £142 million set when Philippe Coutinho departed for Barcelona in January 2018.
According to reports from The Telegraph, Al-Ittihad, who have already engaged in transfer dealings with Liverpool this summer by signing defensive midfielder Fabinho for £40 million, are now willing to present a world-record offer of £200 million as their deadline approaches.
Despite the attractive financial offer, Liverpool remains resolute in their stance that Salah is not available for sale this summer.
The Egyptian winger himself seems unfazed by the ongoing speculation, continuing to perform at a high level.
Salah has played a pivotal role in every Liverpool game this season, contributing both goals and assists, including his recent goal against Aston Villa.
Reports from Footmercato suggest that Salah has been presented with a mega-contract proposal worth an astonishing £400 million to £480 million over a three-year period.
However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the club’s position remains unchanged.
Jurgen Klopp on Mohamed Salah to Saudi Pro League transfer saga
Salah is not for sale. the Egyprtian still has two years left on his contract with the club, and he has communicated to his teammates that he has no intentions of leaving Liverpool.
The new LFC signing, Dominik Szoboszlai, recently stated that the Liverpool forward is happy to stay at Anfield.
“He wants to stay, he wants to be here and be with us. We are really happy – we need people in the team like him.”
Further, the Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp added saying,
“He didn’t tell me but he didn’t have to. He speaks with his training and performances and behaviour. We had meetings this week, and the meetings were not about what we did in the past, it was about what we will do in the future. Mo was with the players’ [leadership] committee and had his moments where he was talking and it was nothing like ‘by the way, this is only until next week’ or whatever.
He is completely here and if Dom said that, fine. Mo doesn’t have to come into my office and tell me ‘by the way, boss … [I’m not going]’. For me it wasn’t a subject for one second, to be honest, besides the questions.
Nobody came to me and told me something could happen or whatever. I’m pretty sure I would have got a call but I didn’t. And Mo didn’t look for a second like he thought about anything else other than about Aston Villa. He has unbelievable numbers but it’s not a surprise that he has the numbers.”
Meanwhile, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, recently took on Twitter (X) to express his views on the Saudi transfer saga.
As per his statement, Salah is here to stay and that is why he signed a new contract with LFC last summer.
So far, Mo Salah has made 309 appearances for the Merseysiders and has found the back of the net 188 times while assisting 81.
