Michael Owen has shared his prediction for the Champions League quarter-final second-leg tie between Liverpool and Benfica.

Along with Liverpool, Manchester City are also eyeing to seal their semi-final birth as the second-leg quarterfinal ties await. In Wednesday night’s second leg encounters, Benfica visits Anfield, and Manchester City travels to face Atletico Madrid.

Michael Owen predicts for the Liverpool game

Michael Owen has a strong feeling that Liverpool will easily see through the Portuguese giants and not be in much trouble. After a comfortably Liverpool win in the first leg 1-3 at Estadio da Luz last week. Goals from Konate, Mane, and Diaz sealed the deal for the Reds.

Owen went on to say:

This should be a straightforward night at Anfield

Former Reds forward further added:

Benfica caused a few problems in Lisbon, but Liverpool deserved to win by at least a couple of goals. I like the look of Darwin Nunez, but I can’t see him or Benfica causing too many problems.

His prediction favours his former club, as he goes “2-0 Liverpool”.

Seems, that Owen is also impressed by the play of Darwin Nunez, the Uruguayan striker who’s heavily linked to Man United, Arsenal, and Liverpool.

Also, Owen’s prediction of Atletico Madrid vs Man City

Man City travels to Wanda Metropolitano for the reverse fixture. They face Atletico after a ‘solo-goal’ from Kevin De Bruyne helped the Manchester Giants scrape a victory.

Michael Owen said,

I’m looking forward to this one(Man City v Atletico). The game in Manchester wasn’t much of a spectacle, but 1-0 wasn’t a bad result for Atletico.

They’ll have to go for it here, and the atmosphere should be fantastic. I think Atletico opening up will suit Man City though, I can see them getting a couple of goals,

He also added:

I think they’ll edge this 2-1

Premier League dominance

Both the Premier League teams would look to continue on their good form and make it to the Semi-Finals of the prestigious UEFA Champions League.

Moreover, Owen believes it could be the two remaining PL teams that could ‘book their place’ in the Semi-Finals.

All this would happen before City and Reds’ meeting with each other again, this time at the Emirates FA Cup at Wembley.

One could expect a good win for Liverpool and on the other hand, Atletico have the power to upset the PL Leaders.
