Manchester United are currently in the 4th place with Liverpool breathing down their necks in 5th place, having only 1 point behind.
Moreover, 3rd place Newcastle are also just 2 points ahead as they failed to extend their lead to Man Utd with their recent loss.
The trio are fighting for a top 4 finish to qualify for UCL next season. However, the news from Old Trafford is that the top scorer for Man Utd, Marcus Rashford is a doubt for their upcoming game.
Man Utd face Wolves in their Premier League clash on Saturday and a win would see them go to 3rd place. Meanwhile, the Magpies travel to Elland Road looking to cement their 3rd spot for this gameweek.
However, the Reds are in 5th place and just 3 points separate them from the 3rd place Newcastle. Should the Reds win and the other two teams lose, Liverpool could end this week in 3rd spot. Although, this would mean that the Reds would have played 1 more game than the other 2 rivals.
Moreover, the Anfield club are on a 6-game-winning streak and have been getting results their way. Though not as dominant as Klopp’s side usually were, they have been getting 3 points by keeping a 1-goal lead in the last two fixtures.
Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle Utd: 3 teams, for 2 spots
As it currently stands, Klopp’s side are 1 point behind Man Utd in 4th and 3 points behind Newcastle in 3rd. However, both the competing teams have one game each in their hands.
Eddie Howe’s men travel to 19th-placed Leeds, who are determined to survive relegation. Meanwhile, Ten Haag’s men travel to 14th place Bournemouth. Klopp’s men, however, travel to King Power to face Leicester who are also in the relegation battle.
Besides, Ten Hagg spoke to the media about Rashford’s injury.
“Raphael Varane is back, Marcus Rashford is doubtful. He has a problem on his leg, an injury, so he is a big question mark for [Saturday].”
The return of Varane is a boost for Man United, who is back after a month on the sidelines through injury. However, it is unclear whether he is fit enough to start against Wolves on Saturday. Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw could continue at centre-back despite the Frenchman’s return.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho returned to the matchday squad for the defeat at West Ham last week.
“He has one more week training. Yeah, so he is available and we have seen he can bring something extra to the team.”
