It is no secret now that Liverpool are once again considering bidding for the Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo, and would be competing with Chelsea.
The Ecuadorian has faced intense scrutiny over his future amid Liverpool and Chelsea interest. He has stormed his way to the forefront of possible transfer conversations.
Southampton’s Romeo Lavia had dominated the landscape after the Reds saw three bids rejected for the 19-year-old Belgian. The latest rejection was an offer worth up to £46m that was rebuffed by the Championship club.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, it emerged that Chelsea had exceeded the bid previously tabled by Liverpool for Lavia.
Then on Thursday, Liverpool contacts the Seagulls over the availability of the Ecuadorian. Moreover, Jurgen Klopp is looking to acquire midfield additions as part of the rebuild in their engine room.
Could Mac Allister hold the key for the Caicedo-Liverpool transfer?
One of the midfield additions this summer was Alexis Mac Allister from the AMEX Stadium.
Liverpool triggered his release clause and the World Cup winner became the first arrival ahead of the upcoming campaign.
The 24-year-old Mac Allister played a starring role in a historic season for Brighton. They finished 6th and qualified for Europe for the first time ever.
Caicedo was his midfield partner on the south coast last season and during their career together, they featured alongside each other 47 times.
Mac Allister was unveiled as a Liverpool player at the beginning of June and Caicedo was quick to laud his departing teammate.
“Come on pa [sic], so happy for you [4 heart-eye emojis]. God bless you, a big hug brother.”
Caicedo commented
This summer hasn’t been short of speculation surrounding Caicedo’s future. Moreover, Chelsea have been long-standing suitors for the midfielder and are said to have had a bid rejected of their own.
Could the Argentine play a role in reuniting with his South American partner? That, however, remains to be seen.
However, it has been suggested previously that he has fuelled speculation over a move to Liverpool. The in-demand midfielder seemingly liked a tweet saying: “Liverpool awaits you.”
As per recent sources, Liverpool have now submitted a British record for the Brighton Midfielder. He might now be soon moving to Anfield.
