Liverpool’s new star Cody Gakpo is ready for his first encounter in Premier League against Brenfort next Monday. But it’s up to the Red’s boss to decide a possible debut date for the Dutchman.

Cody returned to training at the end of last week after Holland’s World Cup quarter-final exit against Argentina. Having just joined the Reds’ clan it seems more realistic for the Netherlands international to start his Liverpool campaign against Wolves on January 7th at Anfield.

LFC snatches the Holland starboy

Gakpo has been a transfer target for the Merseyside giants and their arch-rival Manchester United. But it is Kloop’s brilliance that has turned ex PSV forward into a Liverpool player.

PSV wrote in their official statement

“PSV and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement on the upcoming transfer of Cody Gakpo”.

The 23-year-old seems ready to showcase his class in the Red shirt.

The crazy transfer saga

Man United were eyeing Gakpo back in the summer transfer window, but the move failed as Eric ten Hag preferred a reunion with Antony who was previously managed at Ajax by him.

After the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, a crisis of forward arose at the United camp. Their only options now are an injury-prone Martial and Marcus Rashford. But the Merseyside giants were the one who struck the deal with the Portuguese club at first. It is believed that Virgil van Dijk was one of the key influences that turned Gakpo’s attention towards LFC.

Cody Gakpo ready for the Premier League

The former English champions are having injury issues in their front line. The absence of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota makes Gakpo’s introduction in the next PL match more likely. The versatile striker is ready to make a mark on English soil.

After sorting their forward line, LFC will be looking forward to focusing on strengthening their midfield department. Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez seem to be their next transfer target.
