Liverpool introduces their new winter signing Cody Gakpo. He will wear the number 18 shirt for the former England champions.

The Netherland International is expected to make his Reds debut against Brentford in the Premier League on January 2. He has signed a deal for five-and-a-half years with the English side.

Gakpo feels good and excited about his new campaign. The 23-year-old said

“I feel really good , I’m really excited to be here. I’m looking forward to start training and start playing for this amazing club”.

He also added

“I think for me personally it’s also good to develop here and there’s a lot of great players here I can learn a lot of things from.”

According to liverpoolfc.com.

The Merseyside Giants were looking to improve their attacking strength from the start of the season. The inclusion of Darwin Nunez looked like an unsolved answer to the Red’s side. Moreover, injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz forced the Merseyside giants to look for another option.

Where will the dutchman fit in?

Gakpo plays as a make-shift forward. He drives the ball from the left side of the pitch toward the six-yard box. His close control and dribbling make him one of the most lethal strikers in Europe. His playing attributes do match one of Liverpool’s ex-player Sadio Mane.

Mane was instrumental for the Merseyside giants in the last few years. Mane, Salah and Firmino combined were one of the deadliest attacking trios of English football. Klopp seems to recreate that attacking trio with the Holland international alongside Nunez and the Egyptian magician.

The ex-PSV star has scored 9 goals and given 12 assists out of 14 matches played in the Dutch League. Thus, Liverpool fans will be expecting a similar performance from him in PL.

Will the new LFC star be able to continue his electrifying form in the Premier League? We hope it is not another desperate move by the Reds.
