Latest reports suggest that Liverpool are one of the Premier League sides to make a move for ‘World Cup’s best midfielder’ Sofyan Amrabat.
According to Italian outlet Firenzeviola, Liverpool along with Newcastle are eager to sign Amrabat this summer.
Both PL teams reportedly are willing to pay the asked signing fee by Fiorentina. Meanwhile, the asking price could be around £26M, as suggested by another report via Sport Direct.
But it is not going to be smooth for Liverpool in this pursuit. The Moroccan international is still considering Barcelona his priority. He also tried to force a move to the Blaugrana in January this year.
Although the 26-year-old is waiting for a transfer news from Spain, however, the problem is that even though Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are interested, both clubs are waiting for his price to drop.
Liverpool to sign Sofyan Amrabat?
Amrabat is a very hardworking midfielder and he has proven that. In the 2022 edition of the World Cup, the Moroccan international massively impressed everyone.
He was an integral part of the Moroccan team that reached the semifinal stage. Many big publications regarded him as the ‘World Cup’s best midfielder’.
The 26-year-old appeared in 7 matches in the World Cup and on average managed to put in 2.3 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per game (stats via WhoScored).
Liverpool are in search of the best midfielders available for cheap. They are already in the middle of a midfield rebuild and require two more new signings as wanted by Klopp.
The Reds’ captain Jordan Henderson is aging and Thiago has been prone to injuries. To solve all of these problems, Liverpool needs strong new signings.
If the Merseysiders are able to sign Amrabat and some more world-class players like him, then there is nothing that could stop the Anfield side to compete for the PL title next season.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
