Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara ‘more than ever’ as they look to complete their midfield rebuild.
Klopp has completely shuffled his ranks in the middle of the park with only Thiago left as an experienced Liverpool midfielder.
He has brought in Mac Allister, Dominic Szoboszlai, and now the Japanese, Wataru Endo. Now the German is targeting Unai Emery’s number 44 to complete his rebuild.
Liverpool have a new midfield target name: Boubacar Kamara
After the two initial signings, many thought that the Reds would sign at least 2 other targets in the midfield position.
With long-term targets like Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone, and Romeo Lavia, Liverpool failed to sign any of them.
They chose to walk out of the Thuram deal after they deemed it to be too expensive. Also, they never made an approach to sign Kone.
As far as Lavia is concerned, the Reds dragged the deal for so long that the player chose to join Chelsea in the end.
As was the case with Caicedo, the Ecuadorian chose the Blues over the Reds. This was after Liverpool’s British record bid of £110m was accepted by Brighton.
However, they haven’t been quiet after that and have gone on to sign Wataru Endo in a shock deal. They signed the Stuttgart captain for a mere £16m and are still targeting the likes of Sofyan Amrabat.
As per Foot Mercato, Liverpool are very interested in signing Kamara. Moreover, they are considering making a move for the Frenchman ‘more than ever’.
The Reds are aware that it will be a tough task to prise the 23-year-old away from Villa Park, but it is not considered ‘impossible’. This is purely for the fact that Emery just signed Nicolo Zaniolo for the summer.
Could he be a good fit at Anfield?
Kamara’s versatility to play in several midfield roles is viewed as an attractive asset by Liverpool.
Moreover, Klopp is keen to acquire players that can be deployed in different positions to allow for rotation.
However, Emery is expected to try and rebuff any approach from the Reds if they do decide to table a concrete offer for Kamara.
