Liverpool are eyeing an eighth straight win as they next face Newcastle United at Anfield on a Thursday night in the Premier League, so let’s have a look at the team news and injuries revolving around.

The Reds will be confident going into the game with the current run of good form. Meanwhile, the Newcastle side are in a relegation battle who only tasted their first victory of the season last month.

For the Reds, Klopp’s side had to grind win in a hard-fought battle against Wolves and Aston Villa. It’s an unusual sighting as previously Liverpool were scoring goals for fun as the Reds have also been the most goalscoring side in English top-flight so far this season.

Jurgen Klopp & Co. are currently in second place behind Man City, with only a single point separating both the teams. Moreover, they are also just one point above Chelsea as the title race among the top three is tight and heated.

Liverpool vs Newcastle United: Team news

Injuries

Nat Phillips

Liverpool will be without central defender Nat Phillips for the next four to five weeks due to the fractured cheekbone that he suffered against AC Milan in the Champions League.

Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott will continue to be on the sideline. But the youngster is making excellent progress in his recovery from a serious ankle injury.

Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian is still in major doubt for the match with the hamstring injury that he suffered against Atletico Madrid in the early stages of November.

Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones’s eye injury will continue to keep him out of action for “a number of weeks”, with the midfielder battling to be available before the end of the year.

Divock Origi

Divock Origi’s return to the first-team action is on cards after picking an injury in training which also led to missing the Villa game last weekend.

Suspension

Liverpool have no players suspended for the fixture against the Magpies. All first-team players apart from the injured ones are all set to go for the game and play their part.

A routine win is expected from the in-form Liverpool side playing at Anfield who are unbeaten at home since early March of this year.
