Even if the 2024 Euro has ended, the Reds are still without any grand surprise in their summer transfer window. Amidst all speculations, Rhys Williams is reportedly not going to play in Liverpool anymore. The star was not seen in the first lineup under Slot, and he was not included in the training.
Rhys Williams Is All Set To Leave Liverpool
With several senior stars leaving the squad and a lacklustre transfer saga, Slot’s starting has not been that remarkable.
In the middle of all the signing rumours and leaving news, it has not been a good time for the fans.
Recently, reports have suggested that Rhys Williams is also leaving Liverpool later this year. He was not there in the first team training under Arne Slot’s new regime at AXA base.
Williams was once a favourite player of Jurgen Klopp, the former German manager who has led LFC for almost 9 years.
Klopp openly praised Rhys Williams for his talent; the 23-year-old was once a part of the central defence of Liverpool.
“Exceptional. I cannot imagine being 19 and playing in the CL against Zapata, it’s incredible! I couldn’t be more happy for Rhys. You should see him in the dressing room, you’d need something special to get the smile off his face!”
Klopp on Rhys.
Everyone admired how Williams and Nat Phillips, the defensive duo, kept things at bay. He was one of the names who were instrumental in bringing LFC up to the 3rd place. The defender from Merseyside Club was not on the list of players in the first team.
As the first choice lineup is training at the AXA centre, sources have not seen Williams. He is absent from the pre-season preparations. Both Nat Philips and Rhys Williams are expected to leave Liverpool soon.
