Liverpool Players Impressed With New Assistant Coach Under Arne Slot’s Staff
Liverpool appointed John Heitinga as new assistant coach and players are said to be impressed by his training sessions so far.
Heitinga was confirmed as an assistant coach by the club yesterday and has already started taking several sessions with the team.
The 40-year-old becomes the latest addition to Arne Slot’s staff ahead of the start of 2024-25.
Liverpool Players Impressed With John Heitinga
Several reports indicate that Heitinga has already led multiple coaching sessions with the Liverpool squad, and the players are thoroughly impressed with his training methods.
Heitinga was a centre-back in his playing days and represented Ajax, Atletico Madrid, Everton, Fulham and Hertha BSC before hanging up his boots in 2016.
He worked under David Moyes as assistant coach at West Ham last season.
According to reports both players and coaching staff have been impressed with Heitinga’s coaching methods.
Liverpool’s Backroom Staff Under Slot
Sipke Hulshoff and John Heitinga have taken over as assistant coaches from Lijnders and Krawietz.
Ruben Peeters has taken on the role of lead physical performance coach, which combines the responsibilities previously held by Schlumberger and Kornmayer.
Fabian Otte has joined as the head of first-team goalkeeping coaching, succeeding John Achterberg.
Aaron Briggs is the other new name at Anfield this summer, recently appointed as the first-team individual development coach.

- Jonathan Power (club doctor)
- Daniel Spearritt (post-match & elite player development analyst)

- Mona Nemmer (head of nutrition)
- Greg Mathieson (head of opposition analysis)
More personnel might be added to the backroom staff under Arne Slot.
