Liverpool to move for Haaland if Mo Salah leaves
Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland is on the radar of the Reds for the summer transfer window if Mo Salah leaves Liverpool.
The contract situation with Mo Salah in Liverpool is a massive situation. Liverpool hierarchy’s wage offer doesn’t match Salah’s desired numbers for the contract extension.
And according to Mundo Deportivo, if Salah is to leave Liverpool in the summer, Liverpool will make a move for Erling Haaland’s switch from Dortmund to Liverpool.
Even though Man City and Real Madrid are the frontrunners for Haaland’s signature. But if the Egyptian moves from Anfield, Liverpool could make move for the 21-year-old.
The report has named Liverpool among a list of clubs Haaland could potentially move to at the end of the season.
The Norway international striker has a release clause of €75 million (£62.76 million).
Liverpool are at a high chance of losing Mo Salah. The Egyptian’s current contract expires in the summer of 2023. If the winger’s contract situation is not sorted the Reds might have to lose their prized asset.
It’s a strange situation for the club, whether to sell Salah for the right transfer fees or to wait till the end of contract expiration with the hope of convincing him to sign a new deal.
Certainly, losing arguably “the best player in the world” for free will be a big blow for Liverpool who have been smart in the transfer market in recent years.
But what if sale Salah and use the transfer fee from his sale to fund a move for Haaland. Sounds crazy right?
Haaland in place of Mo Salah, will Liverpool fans love it ?
Since making the move from RB Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has been sensational. The Norwegian International has since become one of the hottest commodities in the world of Football.
The 21-year-old is a top goalscorer, whose movement and finishing qualities make him a lethal attacker. Moreover, not to forget his off-ball work rate inside and outside the box is one of the best in the world.
And one of the important attributes that is required to be a Liverpool player is the off-ball work rate. Jurgen Klopp’s heavy metal football demands hard work.
Haaland is already a top player, imagine him playing under Klopp. The 21-year-old could potentially rule the world and for Liverpool sky would be the limit.
But it all comes down to Mo Salah, who is soon turning 30 in June. And whether he extends his deal or not.
The fan’s favorite Salah has already stated very intelligently about his intention to stay at Liverpool. And moreover, letting Salah go will dent FSG’s image in Liverpool fans’ eyes, and some pundits do believe the Reds supporters won’t forgive FSG if Salah is to go.
Of course, losing Salah is massive for Liverpool, but if they could use the fund from the sale to make Haaland’s signing, would you mind?
Remember, how Coutinho’s transfer fund was used for Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson’s transfers to Liverpool.
And let’s be honest, Haaland’s €75 million (£62.76 million) is a bargain. If Liverpool are able to sign Haaland, then the Reds would become unstoppable.
