Liverpool owners ready to make efforts to sign a player who could become an Anfield icon
Kylian Mbappe has been linked to both Liverpool and Real Madrid over the past few years as the Reds seem to be pushing to sign the Frenchman.
Last November, L’Equipe have mentioned that the Reds have never broken contact with the forward. Moreover, earlier this month, AS stated that Liverpool are ready to make efforts to sign the PSG striker.
The striker was close to joining Real Madrid last summer when he extended his contract at Parc des Princes. This came as a shock to the Galacticos as they went on to sign Jude Bellingham in the same window.
Liverpool could sign Kylian Mbappe
The Frenchman has less than 6 months left in his contract. Also, he has made it clear that he hasn’t made a decision on his future. This means the striker hasn’t committed to PSG for the next season.
In a report published by Mundo Deportivo titled ‘Liverpool long for Mbappé as a replacement for Mohamed Salah’, it has been suggested that the Frenchman’s desire is to join the 14-times-UCL winners.
The forward usually operates in the left wing, which is occupied by Vinicius Jr. at Bernabeu. As per the report, the 25-year-old would have to compete with the Brazilian for a spot in the starting XI. Moreover, he cannot be the leading man, with Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo currently the star players at Madrid.
This was the same situation Mbappe was in last season at Paris. He had to compete against Messi and Neymar to be the leading man. However, at Anfield, he could be the leading man and the star player without much competition.
With Salah’s time seemingly over at Liverpool, there would be no competition in the right-wing as well. With these in mind, Mbappe could look to sign for Liverpool over Madrid.
