In the dynamic landscape of football transfers, the prospect of Mohamed Salah’s eventual departure from Liverpool prompts discussions about the ideal successor for the Egyptian forward. Ally McCoist, a prominent figure in football commentary, has identified Kylian Mbappe as the perfect candidate to fill Salah’s shoes at Anfield.

The former footballer and current commentator, Ally McCoist expresses his desire to see Kylian Mbappe as Mohamed Salah’s successor at Liverpool. While acknowledging the likelihood of Real Madrid being the favoured destination, McCoist remains optimistic about the potential of Mbappe joining the Reds.

“He’s got to move, he’s got to go to Real Madrid. I’d love to see it [Mbappe replacing Salah] but I don’t think it will happen. I actually probably believe there’s only one club that he can go to and that’s Real Madrid.”

McCoist on Salah’s Impending Contract Situation and Liverpool’s Forward Planning

With Mohamed Salah approaching the last 18 months of his current deal and turning 32 later this year, Liverpool faces the challenge of securing a long-term replacement. McCoist emphasizes the importance of planning, recognizing the inevitability of time affecting even the best players and prompting the need for a successor.

“Even if he renews his current contract, it’s clear Liverpool cannot expect him to remain at Anfield in the long-term. Eventually, the ravages of time will catch-up with his body – just like they catch-up with every fallible human being on the planet.”

McCoist notes.
