As per multiple reports, Liverpool are no longer in pole position to sign their long-awaited midfield target, Andre Trindade this January transfer window.
The Reds were keen on snapping the Brazil international from Fluminense, following his Copa Libertadores win on Saturday.
However, as per Brazilian outlet, UOL, they have serious competition from Premier League club, Fulham. They also claim that the London club is now the favorites to sign the midfielder.
Liverpool now not the favourites to sign Andre
Liverpool are now facing serious competition from Fulham, who are reportedly expecting Bayern to return to try and sign Joao Palhinha.
This would be their cue to go out and sign Andre, who is said to be their main focus and the Portuguese’s replacement.
Hence, this is claimed to make them the ‘strongest contenders’ to sign the 22-year-old. Moreover, Arsenal are also mentioned to be closely watching the Brazilian for months, along with Liverpool.
But, Arsenal are also looking at an alternative in Douglas Luiz of Villa. However, Liverpool are looking at no alternatives, as of now.
Fluminense are said to be looking at a price of around £26m and £30m in order to sell Andre. It is apparent that Liverpool have much more than a passing interest in Andre.
Moreover, as per Fluminense’s president, the Reds tried to sign him in the summer.
Also, with Thiago likely to be leaving Anfield, there is a vacancy to be opened up in Klopp’s squad. The club looks towards Andre who seems primed to fill the spot.
But with the modern footballing finances, it is hard to even compete with relatively smaller teams like Fulham.
The wealth of the Premier League is greater than ever and lucrative deals could be a thing from mid-table sides too.
For Liverpool to sign Andre would be a good deal considering the form he is in right now. He just won the Copa Libertadores with Fluminense and would be looking to win more silverware.
