Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has delivered a massive boost for Liverpool fans, confirming that Alexis Mac Allister is back in full training ahead of Argentina’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Colombia on September 10.

After being sidelined from training with a suspected adductor issue, the midfielder’s return is timely for both his national side and Liverpool supporters.

Mac Allister available for Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest

Despite the brief scare, Scaloni assured fans that Mac Allister has rejoined the group, easing any fears about a more serious injury. “The team is fine, recovering from the game the other day, with some typical ailments,” said Scaloni. “Nico [Gonzalez] trained separately and Alexis with the rest of the group.”

Although the Liverpool man is back in training, Scaloni remained coy about his final squad selection, adding, “We will see how they have evolved over the next two days to decide how we are going to play.” It’s clear Mac Allister’s participation against Colombia isn’t locked in yet, but his quick recovery is a good sign for Liverpool’s upcoming clash against Nottingham Forest on September 14.

Mac Allister has been an ever-present figure under new manager Arne Slot, establishing himself as a key player alongside midfield partners Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.

With Nottingham Forest looming on the horizon, Liverpool fans are eager to see Mac Allister back in action at Anfield, especially as Slot aims to maintain his perfect record.

Chiesa and Jones in the Wings

In other injury news, Federico Chiesa, who surprised everyone with his summer move to Liverpool, is yet to make his debut after sitting out the win against Manchester United.

The forward wasn’t called up to the Italy squad during the international break, with reports suggesting he’s being given time to settle in at Liverpool. His first potential appearance is pencilled in for September 2024, so fans will need a little patience before seeing him in a red shirt.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones has been another absentee for Liverpool but could be in line to make his return against Nottingham Forest. The young midfielder has missed out on pre-season action but looks to be nearing a full recovery, with hopes high that he’ll be ready for the Premier League showdown.

Liverpool fans will be hoping Mac Allister can shake off any remaining knocks and return to his midfield magic when Nottingham Forest arrives at Anfield. The Argentine maestro has quickly become one of Slot’s go-to guys – and losing him would be a major blow. For now, though, all signs point to a swift comeback.
