Liverpool Football Club have reportedly made official contact with Inaki Ibanez, agent of Xabi Alonso, to secure his services.
Since the announcement of Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Anfield has been public, the club and the fans have been under major stress regarding the future.
Klopp, since joining in 2015, has brought immaculate success for the Reds. However, his decision to leave the club has raised concerns relating to the immediate future of the club.
The pressure of carrying on, replicating or at least building upon the huge legacy of Klopp is quite terrifying. But the club has identified a few candidates who might be able to do the job successfully.
Xabi Alonso: Front Runner for Liverpool Job
Among the many names that have surfaced over the past few weeks as the successor of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, Xabi Alonso‘s name have always been at the top.
The former Red has been doing wonders with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
The Spaniard is leading the team to their first potential league title as they sit at the top of the points table, eight points clear off of Bayern Munich.
In the Europa as well they are showing exceptional form as the German side has proceeded to round-of-16, where they will face Qarabag FK.
These amazing results have also resulted in him being target-list of Bayern Munich, who want to replace Thomas Tuchel by the end of the season.
Liverpool’s Proactive Approach
According to a report via German media outlet BILD, the Merseysiders have reached out to Alonso’s agent Inaki Ibanez to enquire about his stance.
This is the first official contact LFC have made regarding the managerial situation.
However, as per reports, the 42-year-old is focused on his job at Germany right now and have no thoughts of moving to anywhere else.
Even though Alonso is firm on his decision to stay at Leverkusen, his mind can easily change by the end of the season, by the allure of managing a giant like Liverpool.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
