Take a look at Virgil van Dijk’s crazy reaction after Salah converted his penalty in Liverpool‘s Community Shield triumph over City.

Virgil van Dijk’s crazy reaction to Salah’s penalty

Mo Salah struck a powerful penalty to put Liverpool up 2-1 against Man City. As the Citizens went to kick the ball back to the halfway line to resume play, Virgil van Dijk had another plan.

Our No. 4 was busy firing the ball into the crowd. The rest of the Liverpool team was moving towards the Egyptian King to celebrate with him in front of the Reds fans who had traveled to Leicester’s King Power Stadium. Moreover, the reaction was much to the chagrin of a number of Pep Guardiola’s players.

It’s hilarious to see that van Dijk dealt without hesitation. Moreover, he may have even given the match ball to a lucky fan.

Even though it may have only been the Community Shield, the Netherlands captain and Joel Matip put up an excellent performance at the back. And it was the ideal way to start our campaign.

Nunez and co. getting hands on the trophy

Summer Signing Darwin Nunez left an impression after giving a cameo performance. He came on, won a penalty, found the net with a header, and went home with the shield.

While on the other hand, City’s star signing, Erling Haaland, couldn’t impress. He failed to score two easy chances, one of which was an empty goal. But its just a start for Norweigian, who has shown himself to be the best young striker in the world.

Despite being without Nunez in the first half, Liverpool were quick to strike. Trent Alexander-Arnold led by opening the scoring in the 21st minute. His first-time strike took a slight deflection off the head of Nathan Ake and nestled in off the post. It was followed by Salah converting his penalty and Nunez scoring his competitive debut goal.

Moreover, Alexander Arnold said about the victory and Nunez’s performance:

Our season started today, and it was important for us to get off on the right foot. He(Nunez) won the penalty, scored a goal and looked very lively. He’s been brought in to score goals, and he’s proved he can do that today. He’s a top player, a young player who is willing to learn. He’s bonded well with the lads. He came on with a point to prove”.
