After the original EFL cup tie got postponed, the Gunners travel to Anfield on Thursday. As Liverpool against Arsenal always calls for a historic fixture, let’s take a look at the team news.

The original tie was postponed, because of a Covid-19 outbreak in the Liverpool camp.

Since then, a lot of the results have been termed false-positive, leaving only Trent Alexander-Arnold as a positive case.

Liverpool will look to build on their 4-1 win over Shrewsbury Town in the FA cup.

Arsenal will be looking to get over the 4-0 loss since their last meet up with the Reds, so let’s look at Liverpool team news.

Liverpool Vs Arsenal Team News:

Injuries

Trent-Alexander Arnold

The 23-year-old fullback is the only positive case in the team, but, according to reports, Liverpool are hopeful of his return.

Nat Phillips

Defender Nat Philips will remain unavailable for the Arsenal game due to a fractured cheekbone injury. There is no date on his return yet.

Harvey Elliott

Even though youngster Harvey Elliott is making great progress in training, he will remain unavailable for the game. No confirmed date on his return yet.

Divock Origi

Divock Origi picked up an injury in training a while back and has been absent since then. However, he could be back for the game against Arsenal.

Thiago Alcantara

Midfield Maestro Thiago will also miss the Arsenal game. Out with a hip problem, there is no confirmation on his return date yet.

Mohamed Salah

Due to his involvement in the African Cup of Nations, Mohamed Salah also misses out.

Sadio Mane

Senegalese winger Sadio Mane has also been called to the African Cup of Nations and will miss out.

Naby Keita

Naby Keita will also miss the game against Arsenal due to his involvement in the African cup of Nations.

Suspensions

Liverpool have no suspensions ahead of their EFL Cup semi-final first leg with Arsenal.

With Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane missing, and Divock Origi a doubt, who do you think will start in the attack for Liverpool? Can we see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain play upfront? Or could we see another youngster step up for the game?
