Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has opened up once again and claims he’s not asking for “crazy stuff” in the new deal with the Merseyside club.

The 29-year-old has now entered the final 18 months of his current deal with the Liverpool football club. Salah has already claimed his desire to stay at Liverpool.

Moreover, the club hierarchy is eager to find a resolution to ensure his long-term future remains with Merseyside.

The Egyptian feels it’s time that the club appreciates him to stump up to what’s his worth.

The forward’s extension demand is double what he’s earning. According to Telegraph, the winger’s representatives are demanding £400k per week to retain the services of Salah.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano’s latest tweet, Salah told GQ Magazine, he isn’t looking for “crazy stuff” from the club.

Salah says:

I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands,

They know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff.

The thing is when you ask for something and they show you they can give you something, [they should]. Because they appreciate what you did for the club.

I’ve been here for my fifth year now. I know the club very well. I love the fans. The fans love me.

But with the administration, they have [been] told the situation. It’s in their hands.

Salah’s wage demands are likely to obliterate Liverpool’s current wage bracket and would be a huge shift from FSG’s cautious methods with money. Moreover, the club is reluctant to hand out lucrative contracts to a player who will turn 30 in June this year.

Finding the magic number for Mohamed Salah

The winger is currently enjoying one of his best seasons to date, netting 23 goals in 26 outings prior to flying out to Cameroon for AFCON.

Since joining the Reds in 2017, Salah has scored 150 goals in 231 appearances. And on his way for a third Golden Boot in five years.

The club’s hierarchy has to find the right figure, otherwise, they are going to lose Salah. The fans don’t want to see Salah go from Liverpool and neither the player himself.

As Salah’s contract running down at Liverpool, there is potential that European big-name clubs to offer the winger his desired wage if it gets to the stage where he’s likely to be available on a free transfer.

Moreover, another factor is that big clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona now have reduced financial strengths. So the chances of pushing up a potential transfer fee as high as possible are looking slim for the Liverpool hierarchy.

Moreover, now the club’s Sporting Director Michael Edwards is on his way out of Liverpool at the end of the current season. Edwards’s biggest task before leaving in the summers remains securing Salah in Liverpool for the upcoming seasons.
