Liverpool are still quietly linked to the Bayern Munich star, Benjamin Pavard as the Frenchman is looking to move away from the German giants this summer.
Benjamin Pavard is yet to find a club willing to play him at his favourite centre-back position as he looks to leave Bayern Munich this summer.
As per German publication Kicker, the Frenchman is reported to be keen on leaving and that no club has yet approached for his services. As things stand, Pavard would report back to pre-season training under Tuchel, in the coming weeks.
However, the 27-year-old has been linked to a move to Anfield. Even though there haven’t been a lot of talks over this potential transfer, the Reds are reported to be keen on the former World Champion.
Liverpool still interested in Pavard
Pavard has one year left on his current deal with the Bundesliga champions. But it is claimed that he informed Bayern earlier this summer that he wanted to explore a new challenge in England, Italy, or Spain.
Anfield is being tentatively mentioned as a potential destination in some accounts. Moreover, multiple reports suggest that the former Stuttgart defender has been keen on leaving Bayern, much before Tuchel’s appointment.
Reporter Christian Falk dismissed claims that the French international had refused to join Liverpool.
“He still has his ‘Tuchel list’; he’s working at Bayern Munich at the moment, in a similar manner to how managers in the Premier League go about their business.
Normally the sporting director has a greater say, but Tuchel is actually in the driver’s seat. Now that he has Kim, he’s still got an eye on Harry Kane and Kyle Walker.
Walker is the next topic. There’s still a bit of a fight with Manchester City in terms of whether he signs a new contract or joins Bayern. It’s a similar situation to the one facing Bayern with Hernandez and Kim – a little bit like Walker and Benjamin Pavard.
It’s not true that Pavard has said ‘no’ to Liverpool; everything is open still. Now they have to see where Pavard is going.
Walker is a solution; the player has said ‘yes’ and can imagine coming to the Bundesliga. That said, he would sign a good contract at City, so it’s still between City and Bayern Munich. Bayern know they will lose Pavard.”
How much is the Frenchman worth?
Many reports suggest that Bayern might ask around £25-30m for Pavard. Also, the Reds are yet to sign a defender this summer which is reportedly on their agenda as well.
So far this summer, Liverpool have concentrated on rebuilding their midfield, with deals for Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. They signed the brilliant midfielders for a combined £95m.
After last season’s three-at-the-back tactics by Klopp, he would be looking at various options in the defence.
