As Liverpool remains connected to new midfielders, a new Italian claim has surfaced. A Nabi Keita swap is on the cards as Liverpool are preparing to bring in a £30 million midfielder as Keita’s replacement.
According to rumors in Italy, Liverpool are arranging a “swap deal” with Inter Milan for Marcelo Brozovic that would see Naby Keita leave the team.
Naby Keita to bid goodbye to Liverpool soon?
As the Reds’ miserable start to 2023 against Brighton last weekend proceeded, there have been more and more rumors about the need for midfield additions. However, Jurgen Klopp’s team managed to recover with a victory against Wolves on Tuesday in the FA Cup third-round replay, with teenage midfielder Stefan Bajcetic shining.
The Keita that was recalled did well as well. The international player from Guinea has struggled with injuries recently, which has seriously impeded his progression at Liverpool. While Keita has occasionally displayed glimpses of his actual talent since being acquired from RB Leipzig amid much hype, overall, he has fallen short of his asking price.
Brozovic to join the Reds?
The Reds are reportedly on the attack as Keita approaches the final months of his deal at Anfield. They assert that Liverpool is prepared to pay Brozovic cash plus Keita. 12 of the 302 appearances the Croatian international, who is valued at roughly £30 million, has made for Serie A powerhouse Inter this season. He has missed a few games during the current season due to muscular issues, which is a concern for the Reds.
Brozovic has previously been mentioned in connection with a transfer to Merseyside. The 30-year-old was hotly favored to bolster Liverpool’s midfield last summer. Reds manager Klopp turned to the players at his disposal, but nothing materialized. Along with James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita’s contract expires in the summer.
