According to reports, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to acquire Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram during the summer transfer window.
The midfielders under Klopp have shared a lot of the blame for Liverpool’s poor form this season. This has also resulted in the Reds crashing out of all cup competitions.
Everyone knows that Liverpool will look to strengthen their midfield this summer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that the Merseyside club will sign two or three midfielders at Anfield in the summer.
Klopp looking to sign numerous targets to strengthen Liverpool midfield says Romano
Romano wrote in today’s Caught Offside column,
“There are many midfield targets being discussed by Liverpool, it’s not only Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch.
But it’s still very early, Liverpool will sign midfielders for sure but April is not the moment when you sign players. Sometimes the market is also about opportunities and so Liverpool are exploring different options.
I’m told they will sign two or three midfielders this summer.”
In the summer market, Liverpool are targeting a number of midfielders, including Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella as well.
Inter Live says that Barella is one of their top targets. However, Liverpool are also leading the race to sign Nice midfielder Thuram, who is also a potential target for Inter.
The report adds that Klopp will win the race for the France international this summer. The price which is around €35 million makes Thuram quite an unrealistic potential signing for Inter Milan.
A few less persuading reports also claim that Liverpool have had an €80m offer for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong dismissed in the winter transfer window.
Ahead of the summer transfer window, Liverpool are now preparing a new offer for De Jong and the Premier League club trusts that Barcelona will be more receptive this time.
However, there is a word of caution that De Jong is very comfortable at Barcelona and that it still seems difficult for Klopp to sign him.
