Kevin De Bruyne has announced his planned departure from Manchester City at the end of the season, in a heartfelt letter to the fans. This has outlined a path that many believe Trent Alexander-Arnold should have followed.

De Bruyne confirmed on Friday that he would be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season, as he revealed the club’s supporters needed to receive the announcement directly from him.

The 33-year-old has had an injury-plagued campaign. And there had been rumours linking him with a move to the Saudi Pro League, as the midfielder’s influence in Pep Guardiola’s team began to fade.

The time appears to be right for De Bruyne to leave the Citizens, especially with their substandard performances this season and ongoing uncertainty surrounding the club.

De Bruyne announced his departure

The announcement came in a lovely manner by the midfielder who currently ranks second [118] behind Ryan Giggs [162] for the most assists in the Premier League history.

In his letter he wrote, “You deserve to hear it from me first.”

Other parts of the letter included,

“Football led me to all of you, and to this city. Chasing my dream, not knowing this period would change my life.

This city, this club, these people…gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back! And guess what…we won EVERYTHING.”

The Belgian finished off saying, “Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter. Let’s enjoy these last moments together.”

Although the situations of De Bruyne and Alexander-Arnold are distinguishable. But thisisanfield reports that the open letter from Kevin displayed the blueprint that the defender should have applied.

Trent is hugely expected to leave Liverpool at the end of his current deal in the summer, with Real Madrid the potential destination, as many believe the right-back has his mind set on an exit.

However, unlike KDB, the Englishman’s anticipated move to Spain has played out in the media. And this development has aggravated many Reds fans and not done much good for the reputation of the Liverpool defender.
