Liverpool youngster Owen Beck has ended his season with a hamstring injury picked up in the season-long loan stint at Blackburn Rovers.
The Reds are having a great season under the management of Arne Slot and look destined to win the Premier League title.
Although they have exited all other tournaments, their domestic league run has been pretty commendable.
However, one of the Merseyside giants’ future prospects, Owen Beck, picked up a hamstring injury during a match last weekend against Portsmouth FC, ending his 2024-25 season.
The 22-year-old will be returning to Anfield for the remainder of the season and will continue his recovery at AXA Training Centre.
Confirming the injury, the Rovers manager Valerien Ismael stated,
“We have bad news about Owen Beck, who will be out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, which will keep him out for at least eight weeks.”
Right-back Hayden Carter also received an injury that can possibly keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.

Owen Beck: Season before injury
The young left-back moved to the Championship club at the beginning of this season for a season-long spell.
The Welsh defender featured in 25 matches for the Rovers with an FA Cup appearance. He registered one goal for them, averaging 2.6 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 74.5% pass completion rate (stats via WhoScored).
During his time at the Riverside, Beck spent 1874 minutes on the pitch, playing both as a full-back and a more forward attacking midfielder.
Even in the match against Portsmouth, the Merseyside youngster started the game as the left-attacking midfielder but had to leave the pitch after just 10 minutes in.
Club legend Ian Rush’s nephew rose through the youth ranks of LFC and previously enjoyed loan stints at FC Famalicao, Bolton Wanderers and Dundee FC before moving to Blackburn.
What’s next?
His progress and impact at the Championship were deeply felt by the Rovers as manager Ismael exclaimed, confirming the injury news, by saying,
“You’re not only losing players, you’re losing the profiles. You’re missing the energy and the intensity that Owen has and the physicality of Hayden, whilst both are versatile.”
The soon-to-be 23 has the prospect of acquiring a spot in the Liverpool senior squad in the near future.
As both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are falling out of their prime and have come under harsh light in recent times.
Young Owen Beck could become an important cog in Arne Slot’s new Liverpool machinery with his high energy and intensity, and experiences gathered during loan spells.
Hopefully, he recovers fast and well and becomes a valid option for Slot to increase squad depth.
