Will Liverpool receive guard of honour at Anfield from rivals in title countdown

Liverpool fixture against Arsenal has been moved forward, to a day where the Reds could receive a guard of honour from rivals.

After their slender 1-0 triumph against Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday, Arne Slot’s men are only 13 points away from securing the Premier League crown in the manager’s debut season.

This is based on the assumption that Arsenal claim victory in all their remaining league matches.

While this would be an unlikely feat, as the Gunners’ next two opponents are Brentford and Everton, either side of UEFA Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Liverpool fixture against Arsenal moved

The Liverpool vs Arsenal encounter has been moved from Saturday 10 May to Sunday 11 May at 4:30pm. The Reds will be hoping to have confirmed their triumph in England’s top flight before they welcome Arsenal to Anfield.

The new fixture date could possibly see the London outfit welcome Liverpool into the pitch with a guard of honour.

Although it is far from certain that the Reds will be champions when Arsenal visit on May 11, there is a lot of potential for that to happen.

Liverpool are already scheduled to play seven of their remaining eight games on Sunday, beginning with a trip to Fulham this weekend.

The Reds have 5 matches before the clash with Mikel Arteta’s men: Fulham (A), West Ham United (H), Leicester City (A), Tottenham Hotspur (H), Chelsea (A).

Arsenal have four league games against Everton, Brentford, Ipswich Town, and Crystal Palace before that visit to Anfield, by which the Premier League title winners could be confirmed.

As per thisisanfield, the only remaining fixture which is scheduled to take place on a Saturday, is the trip to Brighton on the penultimate weekend of the season, which is set for May 18.
