Jurgen Klopp explains Andy Robertson’s absence against Villa

Tuesday night, Kostas Tsimikas started as the left-back instead of Andy Robertson against Villa and the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp explains the reason behind it.

Liverpool played their 36th game for this season against Aston Villa at Villa Park and were under pressure in the early minutes. Thus, they conceded a very early goal but due to the courtesy of Joel Matip and Sadio Mane, they made an impressive comeback in the 65th minute.

After beating Aston Villa, Liverpool keeps their hopes up for the quadruple as they already have won the EFL Cup and are in the finals of the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

Kostas Tsimikas played a good game yesterday, did not do anything wrong, completed the passes and overall was helpful to the Reds. However, questions were asked about the absence of their regular starter Andy Robertson.

Klopp explains the reason behind the absence of Robertson

As Andy Robertson was not a part of the win against Villa, concerns were shown by the Kops fans over the Scottish defender’s injury. Meanwhile, Chelsea must have noticed this as it will give the Blues an advantage.

However, Jurgen Klopp cleared all the rumours and explained the reason why Robertson was not the part of the squad

Robbo was today not in the squad because I just wanted to give him a rest at home, . We took another striker into the squad for if we needed it. That’s it, so apart from that we should be fine.

Andy Robertson has performed consistently for the Reds and has made 44 appearances this season in all competitions.

The 28-year-old will be very pivotal for the Merseyside club in their final match against Chelsea on Saturday because the contribution of the left-back has been very important to the team and it will surely be seen on Saturday at the Wembley Stadium.
