Liverpool defender Joe Gomez could be on transfer exit from the club as the Reds plan to swoop for Torino center-back Gleison Bremer.

The 24-year-old has not played enough minutes in the last two years. He has only played 6 matches this season and 7 matches in the 2020-21 season in the Premier League. The performance of the English international has not pleased the Red’s boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Englishman’s injuries haven’t helped him in his cause. Moreover, the incoming of defender Ibrahima Konate has pushed him lower in the pecking order.

Since UEFA EURO Qualifiers in 2019-20, Gomez hasn’t been a regular part of the National team.

Liverpool No.12’s limited playing minutes at the Anfield club would cost him a World Cup squad spot led by manager Gareth Southgate at Qatar.

Liverpool ready for Joe Gomez replacement, as Aston Villa plot transfer swoop

Liverpool are reportedly in the line for Torino center-back Gleison Bremer. The Brazilian is on the radar as a replacement for the Reds center-back Joe Gomez if he is to leave.

It is understood that numerous teams are also interested in getting the Liverpool center-back. But Gomes is the top target for the Liverpool legend who is the manager of Aston Villa.

But the Italian news outlet TuttoMercato reports that Jurgen Klopp’s side have the upper hand in the transfer of Gleison Bremer this summer.

Gomez in Premier League

Gomez’s first-team opportunities look limited at Anfield for the foreseeable future, The center-back was recently seen in Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Watford in the Premier League. Gomez replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was left out due to injury and Gomez filled in at the right-back spot. The defender showcased his versatility as a player at the highest level, after assisting Diogo Jota.

To be honest, Gomez will get more opportunities if he leaves Anfield. It would take a lot to replace Matip and Konate for the starting birth at Liverpool.

As his World Cup place is at stake, the 24-year-old will surely be heading for the exit this summer.
