Harvey Elliott scores and assists on return from injury

Harvey Elliott scored and assisted after his return to full fitness in a U-23 game against Wrexham which was played behind closed doors. Having suffered a nasty ankle injury in September, this signalled Elliott’s return to the senior team.

The 18-year-old had developed a strong connection with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right-hand side before getting injured.

The youngster had started three games in a row at the start of the season. Playing on the right-hand side in all three games, the youngster showed great composure on and off the ball.

Harvey Elliott return to full fitness after serious ankle injury

Jurgen Klopp had recently said that Harvey Elliott would “be ready” by the end of the international break. This means there’s a high chance we will Harvey Elliott play in the game against Cardiff.

According to Paul Joyce, a correspondent with the Times,

Liverpool arranged the match for him and should put him in contention for FA Cup tie with Cardiff City next weekend.

The international break has come as a blessing in disguise for Liverpool. The break has not only allowed them to get Harvey Elliott back in shape but the end of the break will also signal the return of the AFCON trio.

While expectations for his return are high, Elliott has proven himself time and time again. The former Fulham man will be ready when Cardiff come calling and will do his talking on the pitch.

Even Thiago Alcantra is set to return to the senior team after his injury. With both Elliott and Thiago returning, Jurgen Klopp is spoiled for choice when it comes to midfielders.

Fabinho and Oxlade Chamberlain’s brilliant form does not make it any easier for Klopp. If Micheal Edwards is able to sign Fabio Carvalho then the situation will become even more confusing for Klopp.

Who would you like to see play in Liverpool’s midfield?
