Liverpool beat Inter Milan 2-0 at the San Siro to take a significant advantage back to Anfield. Elliot, Milner and Salah hit significant milestones in the process.

The Reds edged past Inter Milan through gritty defending and clinical finishing. Although the Nerazzurri caused trouble to Liverpool, Klopp’s men eventually triumphed. Now, Liverpool are close to their fourth quarterfinal in the Champions League. In this all-important fixture; Elliot, Milner and Salah hit key milestones in their careers.

Elliot, Milner and Salah registering record figures

Jurgen Klopp has faith in Harvey Elliot, as his age belie the maturity and determination that he shows on the pitch.

Thus, Elliot was rewarded with a place in the starting eleven and, he became the youngest Liverpool (and English) player to start in the Champions League at 18 years and 318 days. The previous record was held by Trent Alexander-Arnold (18 years and 354 days). [per Opta]

At the other end of the spectrum is James Milner. Liverpool’s number seven made his 800th club appearance when he was subbed on for Thiago in the 89th minute. Even at the age of 37, Klopp has confirmed that Milner will play football next year. Thus, he will only add to his tally of appearances.

James Milner has represented 6 clubs across 20 seasons. He has played 275 games for Liverpool, 203 Man City, 136 Newcastle, 126 Aston Villa, 54 Leeds and 6 for Swindon Town [per Opta]. Ergo, truly a paradigm of longevity and dare I say, consistency.

Speaking of consistency, Mohamed Salah scored his 24th goal of the season. Further, the goal was also his eight successive European away goal. Additionally, Salah has scored at the home of Inter, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Porto, Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, Midtjylland and Atalanta. He is also on pace, to break Cristiano Ronaldo’s away goal record of 12.

‘The Egyptian King’ is having an exceptional season. As, he also became only the second player to score against both Inter and AC Milan (the first being, Peter Crouch for Tottenham Hotspur in 2010-11 season). Moreover, Mohamed Salah is only behind Sebastian Haller (10 goals) and Robert Lewandowski (8 goals) in the race for the Champions League golden boot with 7 goals.

He is inevitable.
