The Future games for France

Holders In their Group D opening at the Al Janoub Stadium, France overcame a spirited Australia, and Olivier Giroud scored twice to tie Thierry Henry’s record of 51 goals for the country.

France, which was suffering from injuries, started to show early symptoms of vulnerability; nine minutes later, they were down. Harry Souttar’s excellent long pass set up the move by bringing Mathew Leckie in from the right side. Craig Goodwin quickly arrived at the far post in response to a low cross, and the winger blasted high past Hugo Lloris.

The current champions, who courageously recovered from the shock of going behind early to begin Group D in style, have a final, easy victory.

Konate would feel unfairly treated if he is not selected for the team’s match against Denmark. Deschamps could, however, be persuaded to alter.

Saliba, Jules Kounde, and Raphael Varane are other members of Les Bleus. So, at this point in the competition, rotating the side would make sense.

Konate deserves a lot of praise. Interestingly, it was only his third appearance for his nation. In the end, it turned out to be a good night for the French.
