The World Cup festival is on as a BBC pundit believes the French star Kylian Mbappe might win the golden boot.

The golden boot for PSG star Mbappe?

Micah Richards predicts that Kylian Mbappe, who is reportedly a target for Liverpool, will win the World Cup Golden Boot in Qatar. The BBC analyst was asked to choose the 10 players who, in his opinion, will steal the show at this tournament, and Mbappe was undoubtedly among them. As France takes their first win in the group stage, featuring 4 goals to 1, Mbappe showed the world who to look for in this World Cup. The PSG star forward scored a goal and also provided an assist against Australia.

Richards actually ranked Mbappe first, and he boldly predicted that the Frenchman would win the Golden Boot. Richards was even willing to stake a pricey bottle of wine on the PSG player outscoring all of his competitors in this competition.

Earlier this season, there were rumors of a Mbappe-Liverpool connection. And the Frenchman expressed his admiration for Jurgen Klopp and how he manages the club.

Furthermore, there were some shenanigans of a swap deal circulating regarding Salah-Mbappe. However, it is advised to take these rumors with a grain of salt.

Coming back to Mbappe’s appraisal, France have put on a show in their first game of World Cup 2022. And Mbappe in particular was a joy to watch. The Frenchman had an assist and then delivered an exquisite header which found the back of the net. Looking at the flow of his game, Micah Richards might be on to something with his prediction.

Pundit backs up the World Cup winner

According to the expert, Mbappe will take home the Golden Boot. And the way France played their first match, it might just be the case.

Richards:

“He’ll be the top goal scorer, I’m saying it now, I’m putting everything on it, I’ll put another bottle of wine on it. A bottle of wine, an expensive one”

Mbappe undoubtedly has a good chance of taking home the Golden Boot in this situation. These honors are frequently won and lost in the group stages, as Harry Kane and James Rodriguez demonstrated at the previous two tournaments, while you can not deny the fact that Mbappe is in a great position to dominate his group in the 22nd edition.

With all due respect, Australia and Tunisia aren’t prepared to handle the Frenchman’s skills. And as the defending champions, one has to bet on France to advance all the way to the knockout round. And it clearly showed when Mbappe was making those runs from the wing.

Fans believe. Mbappe, though, might feel uneasy going into this tournament. And he might decide not to participate given that he has lately been the focus of several off-field speculations over his future, including ties to Liverpool. Mbappe is a player you must keep an eye on during this World Cup. As he outperformed his opponents in his first game against the Socceroos.

Let us know who you think will win the Golden Boot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
